CUSHING, OK – Centranet and the Sac and Fox Nation are bringing gigabit fiber internet to Cushing. Funded by a National Telecommunications and Information Administration grant under the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program, Centranet is building a full fiber network throughout all tribal lands including the community of Cushing.
“We are excited to bring fiber internet to Cushing,” said Mark Prather, President of Fiber and Technology, Centranet. “Centranet serves much of Sac and Fox Nation’s tribal lands, and this grant will allow us to expand into areas like Cushing where gigabit fiber service is lacking.”
To celebrate this monumental endeavor, Centranet is making a splash in Cushing and hosting a free family swim night on Friday, July 25 at the Cushing Aquatic Center. Residents of Cushing are invited to bring their families from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the free swim night. Centranet personnel will be on site to answer questions you may have about the service. Pool occupany limits will be enforced.
Construction has begun on the fiber network and the first zones are expected to open for sign ups in 3-4 months. Residents who are interested in the service are encouraged to visit CentranetFiber.com/Cushing to sign up for updates.
The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program is a $3 billion program directed to tribal governments to be used for broadband deployment on tribal lands, as well as for telehealth, distance learning, broadband affordability, and digital inclusion.
